I ate a breakfasty thing just before bed & then I just had to have coffee to go with it. Decaf is on my list to buy. Thanks to the French press, it was good and strong & I am still awake. Lots of things have been going through my mind, like how I should exercise this winter, what I could read while I walk on the tread mill, that I should listen to a book instead of reading, where I could buy a cheap ipod on which to listen to this book. Then I realized I was singing the word 'sofa' in my head this whole time without realizing it, so I decided I'd better get up. I sing/ repeat random words to myself several times a day, but I've never really thought about how odd this must be. My mother says I'm "singsongy". Anybody else do this? Anybody else still coming to this xanga?
This Thanksgiving we're going up north again (finally!). In the last few months, I've been getting into cooking. Not even I can believe it, and I can't really say why it happened. One day I decided I'd better learn to cook and do my chores every day instead of saving them up for Saturday, and I'd better learn to enjoy it. And wonder of wonders, I just did it, and I am now much happier. It actually just feels like "it" happened to me, instead of me making it happen. It might just be getting older - I woke up this morning at 7:30 and started doing dishes just cuz-on a Saturday. Human aging is weird.
So tra la la I've been practicing some new recipes hoping I can impress some people at Thanksgiving. So far my repertoire is limited: egg salad with pancetta and gorgonzola, little apple tartlets with homemade whipped cream, salmon in tin foil (much yummier than it sounds), and my newest specialty-the zucchini frittatta. Not a long list, but I think it packs a punch. Oh, and I've been experimenting with these banana chocolate chunk cookies, but I can't get the consistency just right. It keeps coming out really cakey; any suggestions? I'm still not tired. Grrr. Anyway, I went to Earthfare today and grabbed everything to try my new power trio: citrus rice, spinach-stuffed pork chop and apple pie. You might have noticed that my can-do list include a lot of Food Network hits. Giada and I are like this (crosses fingers).
Alright, time to stop this late night stupor writing. Good night, moon.
